Boogiepop Phantom + Lain

I was going to say FLCL but someone beat me to it.  

I liken Boogiepop series to an art film, with noise and beats soundtrack.  School kids (ubiquitous in anime) are haunted by Phantom Boogiepop, mysterious dissappearances and goings on.  Each eposode revolves around a differant student, but all ties together.  The first  five seconds of the first one and you are hooked.  Don't want to give any more away.


Serial Experiments Lain

Intense seires  said to have been the influence for Boogiepop.   Schoolgirl Lain is contacted by a girl who has committed suicied to go into "the Wired" alternate world with her computer.  Slower moving than Boogiepop and a tad more traditional, but equally as good, possibly better.  
Tech TV may still be running Lain around midnight, beware of Tech TV harsh voice over at the end ruining the mood.

Oh, and I got the entire FLCL series by accident on one DVD (all three DVDs on 1)  for 12 bucks at ezanimez.com, plus the Lain series for some cheap price.

the main ones:
1. chinese subtitles
2. region 0 (or "region free")
3. WAY too cheap for what it should be
4. not the same number of disks as region 1

BoogiePop is my favorite anime, all though it pisses me off that everyone compares it to lain when it is so much cooler. I have the dvd set. i wish boogiepop had a better soundtrak though

the whole world of the wired really pulled me in and didnt let go...It reminds me the plot of final fantasy seven game for some reason...
