ONCE AGAIN - We present: Stuntkid in Toronto @ the We Are RadaR boutique 168 Baldwin St.

Jason Lavesque is a self-taught illustrator living in Norfolk, Virginia ( in the US ).
His work regularly depicts "pin up" style girls with elements inspired by both the beautiful and ugly parts of the natural world. Over the past few years his work has graced the covers and pages of magazines and periodicals including Playstation Magazine, LA Weekly, Boston's Weekly Dig, Coilhouse, and most recently, comic book covers for Marvel. Since 2006 he has come out with 2 different books featuring all his sketches, photography and his illustration work. Most recently his work won an Eisner award for his cover illustration on “The Comic Book
tattoo”.

Opening reception for this amazing art show will be July 11th, from 7pm-11pm, show runs though mid August.

We have reach more than 10,000 fans on our facebook page, and to celebrate we wanted to do something fun.

A Contest!

Create a fashion/style mash-up at Polyvore that includes a minimum of one Plastik Wrap item available here at PlastikARMY.com and a variety of other items you locate across the web.
We want to see an interesting and fresh mix to the palette. Finding that unusual yet eye catching style that we are all part of. Break the mold, take a risk. It can really pay off.

Winner receives $200 gift cert for PlastikArmy.com
Runner up receives $100 gift cert for PlastikArmy.com

To enter the contest use the email form link here to send us your email address (won't be posted) and the URL of your polyvore entry AND add a comment below that includes the URL to the entry.
The deadline for entries is Midnight (EST) Friday Nov 18th 2011. We will then collect the entries and have you and your friends vote on them. 1 Week for votes, then we decide the winner (taking into serious consideration the votes ;). The process will be very similar to the previous Plastik ARMY contest.
NOTE: One entry per person please.

About Polyvore: Polyvore has a simple editor for creating your fashion mash-up/collage, and searching for Plastik Wrap will bring you many already listed items you can included, but if you are looking for something new or a special design not yet listed you will need to Import the items. You can learn how to do these by watching this video.

Example Polyvore sets that include Plastik Wrap designs can be found here. This user has create fashion collages using the full gallery images available at PlastikWrap.com (feel free to do the same).
Another set that includes a red shrug from our store section (with the white background cut out) shows the items being included with a little more photo manipulation.

Forgive us. We are late. We should have posted this a while back. But than again, rather late then never. Right?!
Please join us while we reminiscent on a fun event we had here at Plastik Wrap headquarters.
We present: Stuntkid in Toronto. :)

Here are some pix from the opening reception for his art show at Plastik Wrap boutique. It was a very hot August night, filled with amazing art, fun people, wine, food, clothes and all over good times.

Happy Halloween from everyone at Plastik Wrap and BitchCraft!!!

Last night we thru a little party filled with Black-Light, Video Projections, Smoke Machines (hence the cloudy image) and most importantly good friends. There is nothing like a mascerade ball to release you... and release we did. The proof was in the empty bowl of 'Witches Brew' at the end of the night.
Be sure to get out and get your fright on this Halloween.

I know you think its been quiet here, in the land of our plastik blog, but let me tell ya, we have been pretty damn busy with all the things happening in the crazy month of May. Here is a quick run down of the major events in Plastik Army land.

Kinetik festival, although amazing, was just too exhausting for us to take any pictures..but be assured dear style hunters, that it was loads of fun, with lots of amazing people dressed in killer styles.
Torture Garden...Plastik Wrap's anti fashion extravaganza can be seen here.
Anime North...one of the weirdest (in a good way) festivals we attend. Look at all the color, all the imagination and fun costumes.

The Bazaar of the Bizarre 2010 Spring edition

This is just a small selection of amazing goodies displayed at the past Spring edition of our Bazaar of the Bizarre. Despite the horrible Sunday morning weather, we all still had loads of fun, and enjoyed fantastic music and the occasional circus demonstrations.

The bazaar is always such a tease...its really hard to resist all the amazing goodies ranging from art, to hand made shoes...this time I gave in and bought a mini top hat by Sadistic Vanity.

There was loads of fun to be had that is for sure. Besides shopping, you could have tried out hoola hooping, juggling or snack on chocolate covered bacon. As a special treat for those who stayed near to the end of the event, a travelling acoustic gypsy duo Krasnogorsk gave a memorable live performance and offered their home brewed recordings. On the end, after the clean up we gathered all our decor balloons and strapped them to Joe's (from the Circus Store) backpack for one last joyride.

While searching for some images tonight, I came across a phenomena which I decided to call Stylish Pretzels.

Let me educate you about the Stylish Pretzel. Usually it is in a female form, scantily clad and lazily twisted in a position that does not show much, but you can't help to stare at it.
These images usually do not get used in catalogues or any promo materials, but we still love them and want to show them off.

If you are anything like me, with a flair for simple, playfull but modern jewelry, then you will love Missy Industry.
Designed and handmade by Mellisa Lafreniere in Montreal Canada, these unique pieces are created in small quantities. The designs are all solid sterling silver with a permanent patina finish, giving them a dark oxidized look. Mellisa channels influences from many different styles and as she puts it her pieces are

"a perfect clash of vintage-gothic-rocker with a girly twist"

(or manly in some instances) This jewelry line is very eye catching, while remaining dark and edgy. My personal favorite is Cardio!
Showcasing how killer this line is, Plastik Wrap has used one of Missy's rings (coming soon to Plastik Army) in a wardrobe styling for Space channel's intro/bumper to promote the 'Movies from Space' programs.

Welcome to the high-end side of alternative fashion.

Plastik Army will be focusing on bringing you the latest from independent designers and artist. Expect to find pieces to please different styles, ranging from avantgarde, futuristic, industrial, steampunk to goth and lolita.

Most of the styles will be available in small quantities, with limited runs. No mass production. This boutique is an ever evolving entity and new products will be added almost daily, at least for a little while, till we fill it up nice, full and pretty.

Our blog will bring you updates on whats new, exciting and happening in our world. Along with some fun DIY projects, behind the scene sneak peeks, customer pix, contests, inspirations and everything else we think you might want to read about.
